A detail set of the SPACE range in 1:48 scale from the Czech manufacturer Eduard. It is not an aircraft model but an accessory for detailing the cockpit of the Fairey Gannet AS.4 plastic kit by Airfix. A SPACE set combines a color 3D decal on backing paper with photo-etched metal.
Its basis is a color 3D decal in relief that faithfully imitates the instrument panel and the panels with their dial faces, switches and labels without any need for painting. It is complemented by photo-etched seat belts. The 3D decal has a raised structure, so the result looks three-dimensional and reads well even under a magnifier; it has no adhesive layer of its own, however, and is fixed with PVA glue. The set does away with laborious painting of small cockpit details.
Clean and degrease the surface the decal is to go on. Use a damp sponge with a drop of dish soap to moisten only the backing paper under the part, do not immerse the sheet in water, lift the part off with tweezers and fix it with PVA (white) glue; the manufacturer does not recommend super glue. Do not use a decal softener, as it attacks the printed resin. Bend the photo-etched belts according to the instructions and glue them with super glue.
