The printed set of Luftwaffe jack stands in 1:32 from 3DF will complete an aircraft or a diorama with the ground equipment used in maintenance.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is an accessory made by 3D printing, not a model of an aircraft. The set represents jack stands, that is the ground equipment an aircraft rested on during maintenance work. In 1:32 scale it makes a rewarding accessory to a model on a shelf and to a smaller airfield scene alike.
Work on an aircraft at field units was far from limited to the engine. The fuselage or the wing had to be raised into the flying position, the weapons had to be adjusted, the landing gear had to be checked and the wheels changed. Robust portable stands served for that, and they appeared beside aircraft at the airfields of all the warring sides. It is precisely such equipment that turns a model into a composition, because it tells the viewer what went on around the machine. In 1:32 scale even the small details stand out that would be lost in smaller scales.
The printed parts are accurate but more brittle than injection-molded plastic, so handle them carefully and do not lever them. Remove the remains of the supports with a sharp knife or with a fine file face, level the areas with a sanding sponge and, before painting, wash the parts in lukewarm soapy water and let them dry out properly. The joints are strongest with cyanoacrylate glue. A primer coat from a spray can or with an airbrush suits, and a fine weathering that will give metal equipment a worked look.
