Rivets in the 1.2 mm size are an add-on set for models of vehicles. They replace molded riveting with heads with a sharp outline, which are fitted into drilled holes.

An add-on set of small imitation rivets for models of military and civilian vehicles. It is not a kit or a model. The parts serve so that riveted joints on a model can be made as a full three-dimensional detail and not as shallow relief cast together with the panel.
Molded riveting is among the first things to disappear during a build. It takes only sanding the joint of two parts or leveling a surface and a row of heads is gone. The remaining rivets moreover tend to be uneven across the surface, because the mold shapes them with differing draft. Fitted rivets, by contrast, have a uniform outline, hold it even under a primer and after a wash create a clean shadow around every head.
With rivets it is regularity that decides. First draw the spacing out or mark it along a strip of paper, and only then prick the centers with a point and drill the holes with a micro drill in a hand holder. Cut the original molded rivets off with a scalpel at the same time and sand the surface over, so that the rows do not overlap. Set the parts in with tweezers and secure them with the slightest drop of cyanoacrylate glue from the tip of a wire, otherwise the glue will run between the heads and leave a glossy film on the surface.
A rivet is a typical detail on which the size shows at first glance. In this range the designation 1.2 mm fits the larger end, roughly between 1:48 and 1:35. Before you start drilling, hold the size up to the panel you are riveting and check the spacing too. Wrong spacing ruins the result just as much as a wrong size.
