This is an accessory for modelers, not a kit of a vehicle. The set brings a miniature of the German Riegelmine 43 anti-tank mine in the large 1:16 scale, that is in a size where the shape of the body and the seating of the lid are visible. Detail like this is used as equipment on a vehicle, as part of the gear of a figure or as a small prop in a scene. The brand offers the same mine in smaller scales as well, so it can be matched to the model you happen to be building.
The Riegelmine 43 was a German anti-tank mine from the second half of the war. It differed from the usual plate mines in its elongated angular body, which was laid across the ruts: the longer shape raised the chance that a vehicle would run onto the mine and made laying continuous belts easier. The mines were carried on vehicles, stacked in piles by trenches and were part of the equipment of engineer units. That is exactly why it is a rewarding element in a diorama: in a single piece it tells you what is going on in the scene.
In a large scale it pays to degrease the surface before painting and to apply a thin layer of primer. German field equipment tends to be in a subdued shade, so the model comes out well with a combination of a base coat, a fine wash into the edges and light dusting. Keep the lettering and markings sparing. Placement in the scene does half the work: a single mine propped against a crate reads differently from a neatly lined-up row ready for laying.
