The Fw 190 made its name as a fighter, but it was the F series that turned it into a ground-attack aircraft. It received heavier armor and, above all, racks for bombs, so it could attack ground targets and still defend itself when enemy fighters caught it. Small bombs weighing around fifty kilograms were hung under the wing in groups of several and were used against soft targets, columns and positions. The underwing load on a model of the Fw 190 F is therefore not just decoration; it is the mark that sets the version apart from the A and D fighter series.
Fit the racks first and only then the bombs, or you will not reach the joints. Check that all the stores point the same way; a bomb hung at an angle shows on a finished model from a meter away. Paint the body of the bomb and pick out the narrow bands by the fins, and add faint traces of wear from the ground crew on the wing around the racks. Degrease the parts, spray them with the base color and strengthen the joints with super glue.
