An add-on set of AGM-88 anti-radiation missiles in 1:32 scale. External stores for models of combat aircraft.
Responsibility details are not available.
The AGM-88 is an American anti-radiation missile, that is a weapon intended to destroy the ground radars of air defenses. It homes on the emissions of its target: once a radar switches on, the missile finds it by itself and attacks its antenna. In shape it is a slender rocket with a cruciform set of fins in the middle and another cross of control surfaces at the rear, so under the wing of an aircraft it is unmistakable.
External stores in 1:32 scale to complete a kit of a combat aircraft. How many pieces the package holds and which form of the missile the set represents are given in the manufacturer's instructions. The parts are not polystyrene, so solvent cement has no effect on them.
Cut the excess material away with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand off the remainder with a fine file; on a slender cylindrical body every unevenness shows. Wash and degrease the parts before painting, otherwise the paint will not hold. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Finish and paint the missile separately, away from the model, because color bands and lettering are far easier to do on a loose part than under a wing. Dry-fit to check that the rack in the kit matches the body of the missile, and adjust any pin before you start gluing. If you are hanging the missiles in a pair, measure out the mounting beforehand so that both hang at the same height.
The set suits modelers who want to build an aircraft in a particular role and are not satisfied with the armament supplied with the kit, or who need to replace the missiles with finer parts. The model of the aircraft, paints and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
