1:32 AGM-88 HARM

AGM-88 HARM 1:32 - Eduard Brassin resin set

This add-on set of cast resin from the Czech manufacturer Eduard brings the AGM-88 HARM anti-radiation missile in the large 1:32 scale. It is an accessory for a modeler who wants to sharpen up the underwing stores on a model of a tactical aircraft, not a kit in its own right. Resin holds sharper fin edges and finer surface detail than injection-molded plastic allows, which is why weapon sets rank among the most frequently bought small accessories. The exact package contents and the number of pieces are stated on the packaging of the set.

The real subject

The AGM-88 HARM is an American air-to-ground anti-radiation missile. Its seeker head responds to the emissions of ground radars, so the missile serves to suppress air defenses. It entered service in the 1980s and was carried by a number of Western tactical aircraft. It is recognizable by its slender body, the cruciform arrangement of its aerodynamic surfaces and a fairly long range.

Building and painting tips

First wash the resin parts in lukewarm water with detergent so that any mold release agent disappears from the surface. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a cutting disc, never snap them off. Protect your airway when sanding, as resin dust is fine. The parts are bonded exclusively with cyanoacrylate glue; ordinary cement for plastic does not bite into resin. Apply a thin coat of primer before painting, otherwise the paint holds poorly on the smooth surface.

Who the set is for

• modelers building aircraft models in the large 1:32 scale
• builders of modern tactical aircraft with an interest in accurate underwing stores
• those who already have experience of working with resin
• collectors fine-tuning the detail of a display model

The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
