The Albatros D.V and D.Va are German single-seat fighter aircraft of the second half of the First World War and the last development branch of the whole Albatros range. Their fuselage is a shell, glued from plywood into an oval cross section, which gave them a smooth and aerodynamically clean shape that few opponents had at the time. They are powered by an inline six-cylinder Mercedes, mounted so that the upper part of the cylinders stays visible above the outline of the fuselage. The lower wing is markedly narrower than the upper one and carries a single spar, so that in a steep dive it was stressed more than the designers had originally reckoned with. The D.Va version differs from the D.V in details of structure and in the routing of the aileron control cables.
The sheet brings laser-cut decals in 1:32 scale for models of the Albatros D.V and D.Va. The individual elements are cut out to their final shape in advance, so you do not have to cut them out and no strip of carrier film stays around them. The exact contents of the sheet and its placement on the model are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
Prepare the undercoat smooth and sprayed over with a gloss varnish, as on a matte surface air would be held beneath the decal. Take the elements off with tweezers, dip them briefly in lukewarm water and let them rest until they begin to release from the backing of their own accord. Because they are cut exactly to shape, you have no margin to trim away when settling them, and it is therefore better to slide them into place with a wet brush. On an intricate surface a softener will help, and once dry seal the whole with a semimatte varnish.
For modelers who build the Albatros D.V or D.Va in 1:32 scale and want a surface without visible edges of carrier film. It is an accessory to a model of the aircraft. The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
