Photo-etched metal parts in 1:32 scale for a model of the Arado Ar 196A-3 floatplane. An accessory for a finished kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Arado Ar 196 was a German two-seat floatplane of the Second World War. It served mainly as a shipboard reconnaissance machine: large surface ships launched it by catapult and after it landed on the water lifted it back aboard with a crane. Besides reconnaissance it flew patrols over the coast. The A-3 version was one of the main production variants; the machine stood on a pair of floats and the crew was a pilot and an observer.
These are photo-etched parts in 1:32 scale meant for adding to a finished kit. The parts are etched from thin metal sheet and held on a carrier fret. Photo-etch allows belts, buckles, grilles and braces to be shown at a thickness an injection-molded part cannot reach. Which parts the set contains and which kit it is made for are given in the enclosed instructions.
Cut the parts off the fret with a sharp blade on a hard surface, not with pliers, and sand the remains of the tab down. Make the bends along the marked groove, best in a bending tool or between two blades. Glue with cyanoacrylate in tiny drops; polystyrene cement will not join metal. Before painting, wash the parts, degrease them and go over them with a primer. Fit and paint everything that goes inside the fuselage or the cockpit before you close the assembly up.
The set is for modelers who have already worked with photo-etch and want to take a model of a floatplane to a higher level of detail. The model, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
