Replacement main wheels for the four-engine bomber Avro Lancaster in a large scale, supplied by the Armory brand. The designation of the product places them in the middle period of production of the aircraft and describes them as a universal set. The tread and the side are shaped into the form of a tire weighted by the mass of a standing machine.
Lancasters flew mostly in the dark, in large formations and with a crew of seven men. Over seven thousand of them were built during the war and the machine became a symbol of British bomber aviation. Toward the end of the conflict alterations of the armament, the radar equipment and the landing gear appeared, so the builder of a model has to decide which period to capture. It is precisely details of the kind the wheels are that reveal such a decision to the viewer at first sight.
Weighting gives a model an impression of heaviness, but it sets one condition: it must be turned correctly. Try dry how the wheel seats, and only then glue. On large models it pays to reinforce the landing gear legs, because a finished bomber in 1:32 already weighs something. Leave the painting for later and make the glued joint between the wheel and the axle only after the varnish has dried.
