A detailed resin cockpit set in 1:32 scale from the Czech maker Aires. The set replaces the cockpit of the base kit with a faithfully cast cockpit of the BAE (English Electric) Lightning in the F.6 version. It contains finely detailed resin parts, typically complemented by photo-etched elements and an instrument film. It is an accessory for advanced modelers, not a stand-alone aircraft model.
The BAE Lightning was a British supersonic interceptor with the distinctive layout of two Rolls-Royce Avon engines stacked one above the other. The F.6 version was among the late and most capable standards, with larger external tanks and longer endurance. The machine served with the Royal Air Force as a fast-climbing Cold War interceptor.
First wash the resin parts to remove mold release residue, cut off the casting blocks and clean up the surfaces with respiratory protection. Bond with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Apply primer before painting and bring out the panel lines and the details with a wash and a dry brush. Check that everything seats exactly in the particular kit in 1:32 scale.
