An accessory set of the HGW brand from the Basic Line range, intended for a model of the Messerschmitt Bf 109E in the E-4 and E-7 versions in 1:32 scale. It is not a model of an aircraft on its own but an accessory used while finishing one. HGW has long devoted itself to seat harnesses and wet transfers and under the Basic Line designation offers a suite of basic accessories for individual types; the particular make-up of this item is given on the packaging of the set.
The Messerschmitt Bf 109E was the main German fighter in the first years of the Second World War. Against the older machines the E-4 version was given a more angular canopy with flat panels of glazing and a modified wing armament, while the E-7 version then took on the ability to carry a drop tank or a bomb under the fuselage, which noticeably widened its range and its uses. Both versions share the Daimler-Benz DB 601 engine with direct fuel injection. It is precisely because the E-4 and the E-7 are the same in the cockpit that HGW covers them with one item, while for the older E-3 it runs a set separately.
The accessory comes into its own at the moment when you have the cockpit ready for finishing and the surface under the glazing done. Work in good light and with tweezers with fine jaws; the parts in 1:32 are larger than in the reduced scales, but they remain small. With wet transfers it holds that the base must be smooth and evened out, otherwise the motif will not press down uniformly. Once you have finished, even the work out with a coat of varnish, so that the accessory joins visually with the rest of the surface.
It is an accessory to a model of the given type and scale, not a model of an aircraft on its own.
