Shaped masks cut for the canopy glazing and cockpit frames of the Messerschmitt Bf 109F-2 fighter, 1:32 scale. The set does not carry the TFace designation, so it handles the glazing from the outer side; the double-sided form is sold separately and is recognized precisely by that abbreviation in the name.
The F version is the most extensively reworked form of the whole type. The designers rounded the wing tips, did away with the struts of the horizontal tail, modified the radiators and fitted a larger propeller spinner that blends smoothly into the cowling. The result was a substantially cleaner shape with better climb and agility, though at the cost of lighter wing armament. The F-2 form carried a cannon of smaller caliber on the propeller axis than the later F-4, and that is exactly why the two versions are distinguished in model sets.
In a large scale the glazing of the Friedrich is sizable and its hinged part has a shape that rises from the fuselage in two curves at once. Tape applied by hand stretches unevenly over such an area and the edge of the frame is then not straight. There is also the fact that on a large model every deviation is visible to the naked eye, so the tolerance is smaller than in smaller sizes. Pre-cut pieces get around that problem by holding the shape themselves.
