A photo-etched set for a model of the Messerschmitt Bf 109F-4 in 1:32 scale. Thin metal parts replace the places that cannot be cast from plastic in scale.

An accessory set of photo-etched parts for a model of the Messerschmitt Bf 109F-4 in the large scale of 1:32. These are parts etched from thin sheet, that is a classic modeling photo-etched set.
Injection-molded plastic has its smallest thickness and a manufacturer cannot get below it. That is why there are thick edges on a model, grilles without a view through and flat relief where on the real machine there was sheet a tenth of a millimeter thick. Photo-etching gets around this limit: the part is thin, has sharp edges and light passes through it. In a large scale the difference is visible at first glance, because the model is looked at up close.
The Bf 109F is an aerodynamically reworked version of the German fighter, with rounded wingtips and a cleaner fuselage than the older forms. With the F-4 version the main armament was formed by a cannon firing through the axis of the propeller, completed by a pair of machine guns above the engine.
The parts are joined to the fret by tiny tabs. Cut them off with a sharp blade on a hard surface, not with scissors, and sand the remnant of the tab away. Lead the bends over a metal edge or in an etch bender; a clean bend cannot be made with a thumb. Before painting, wash the metal, degrease it and apply a primer, otherwise the paint will not hold on the smooth surface.
The package contains photo-etched parts. The kit, paints and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
