This is not an airplane kit but an add-on resin set from the Quickboost brand in 1:32 scale. The set holds the tropical dust filter for the engine intake of the kind carried by Bf 109F machines committed to dusty surroundings, for instance in North Africa. The set is meant for more experienced modelers.

The real subject

The Messerschmitt Bf 109F was a German single-seat fighter of the Second World War. Tropically equipped machines were given a dust filter on the engine intake, which protected the engine in desert and dusty conditions.

Building and painting tips

First wash the resin parts free of mold release residue, cut off the casting blocks carefully and glue them with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Use respiratory protection when sanding. The filter usually calls for being fitted to the engine cowling. The surface is usually painted with an airbrush and the detail picked out with a fine wash.
