1:32 Boeing PT-17 Kaydet seatbelts STEEL are photo-etched steel seat belts for the model of the trainer biplane in 1:32 scale. It is a detail accessory for the cockpit, not a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
An add-on set from the Czech manufacturer Eduard in the Steel version, that is etched from steel. It replaces the seat belts of the model that are missing or crudely rendered. The Steel line is pre-colored and carries an adhesive layer, so the belts do not have to be sprayed or bonded with super glue and are usable practically as soon as they come off the fret.
The open cockpits of a biplane are visible from above down to the smallest detail, so an empty seat without belts gives away at once that this is a model. Steel photo-etch has a decisive advantage over plastic or paper: it can be bent, rippled and left to drape loosely over the edge of the seat or along the floor. It is exactly that careless sag that gives the impression of fabric of the right scale.
Separate the belt from the fret with a sharp scalpel on a hard surface, not by twisting, so that no burr is left. Before shaping, bend the metal gently over a round rod or the handle of a pair of tweezers, and keep the bends flowing rather than creased. The buckles are usually bent to a right angle with flat-jawed tweezers. If the adhesive layer does not hold firmly enough on the model, add a drop of super glue applied with a pin. This line needs no paint, but a dark wash will bring out the relief of the buckles and tie them in with the rest of the interior.
The set is an accessory for a kit. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package.
