Pre-printed ammunition belts of the British caliber of the Second World War in the large scale. Usable in machine gun bays and in open magazines of any model.
Responsibility details are not available.
The British caliber of the early war stood behind one of the best-known solutions to armament: a large number of quick-firing machine guns rather than a few heavy weapons. Whole batteries of barrels therefore fitted into the wings of fighters, and with them long belts led from the ammunition boxes. It is precisely those belts that are the most striking detail in photographs of the period from field airfields: armorers carried them over a shoulder and during loading they stretched across the whole wing. In the large scale, where an exposed box or a service panel is commonly built open, they are visible on a finished model as well.
The set brings the belts finished including the coloring of brass, steel and the rounds themselves, with relief that gives the individual cartridges three-dimensional depth. It is not tied to one particular kit, so it will serve anywhere ammunition needs to be shown: in a wing box, in a partly opened panel, on a blanket beside a machine in a diorama and in the hands of an armorer figure.
How to work with it: once moistened, a belt can be bent slightly, so it can follow a curve or hang over an edge. Make the bend in one movement, though, because repeated leveling disturbs the printing. It is best to hide the ends in the shadow of a box, so that the cut is not visible.
