A kit of the American Curtiss JN-4 Jenny training biplane in 1:32 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Curtiss JN-4 was a two-seat training biplane with open cockpits one behind the other and with dual controls, so that the instructor could step into the controls for the pupil at any time. The structure was simple and easy to repair: a wooden frame, fabric covering and a water-cooled Curtiss eight-cylinder vee engine in the nose. The aircraft was neither fast nor agile, but it was patient, and that is exactly what was expected of a training machine.
During the First World War most American and Canadian pilots went through their training on the Jenny; the machines were built in Canada as well. The JN-4 family then took part in the beginnings of the American air mail, and after the war it stayed in the air for a long time yet as a cheap machine for sightseeing flights. The nickname Jenny arose from the designation JN itself, which in pronunciation ran together into a girl's name.
Cut the excess material off with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the surface, and wash and degrease the parts before painting. Try the assembly out dry, especially the seating of the upper wing. The open cockpits show a great deal, so paint the inside of the fuselage before you close it up. Rig the bracing wires only onto a finished coat of paint and work from the inner pairs outward.
The set suits modelers who collect aircraft of the First World War in a large scale and do not mind a build in which they work out the procedure themselves. Paints, glue and tools are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
