A kit of the British de Havilland DH.82A Tiger Moth training biplane in the large 1:32 scale. The model captures the typical look of an open trainer with a pair of staggered wings. The actual package contents, the material and the markings are those given by the manufacturer for the particular edition.
The Tiger Moth is a two-seat training biplane of the 1930s. It served as the basic trainer of the Royal Air Force and a whole generation of pilots passed through it, right up to the early 1950s. It was powered by an inverted inline de Havilland Gipsy Major engine; the structure combined wood, steel tube and fabric covering. Besides the RAF it flew with dozens of other air forces, and after the war it became a popular sporting and historic aircraft that still flies at air shows today.
On a biplane, pay attention to seating the interplane struts and braces correctly; it helps to assemble the load-bearing framework first and to let the glue dry properly. Taut rigging wires between the wings will add realism to the model. Apply a primer before painting; the fabric surfaces come out well with gentle accenting of the ribs. If the variant is in resin, first wash the parts to remove the mold release agent, cut the casting blocks off and glue them with cyanoacrylate glue.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
