A photo-etched set of metal accessories for a model of the Douglas Boston Mk.IV aircraft in 1:32 scale. The thin metal features replace coarser plastic details.
Responsibility details are not available.
Boston was the British name for the American twin-engine Douglas A-20 aircraft. The Mk.IV rendition matched the late production version with a glazed nose, in which the bombardier had his place. The machines served in daylight bombing operations over western Europe and over the Mediterranean and their crews grew fond of them for their lively flying qualities.
A photo-etched sheet of metal accessories for a model in the large 1:32 scale. The features in thin sheet replace details that in plastic are thicker than the scale would call for, for production reasons. The particular composition of the sheet and the kit the set is cut for are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
Separate the parts with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the remaining tab with a fine file, so that no burr is left. Make the bends in a photo-etch bender or over a straight metal edge. They are glued with super glue applied in a small amount, and on load-bearing parts soldering comes in handy. Degrease the metal before painting and give it a primer.
The set will appeal to the builder who sees every edge on a large model and wants the detail to be right. It calls for patience, tweezers and good light. Read the instructions before you start building: some of the features are fitted into the interior before the fuselage is joined and you cannot return to those places later. The kit of the model, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
