An accessory set from the Czech manufacturer Eduard replaces the exhaust nozzle of the engine on a model of the F-16C fighter in 1:32 scale. It is not an airplane kit but a part that is fitted in place of the parts from the box. According to the name it is made by three-dimensional printing, so it holds sharp edges, thin petals and the fine internal division that injection-molded plastic does not reach at this size. On an F-16 model the nozzle is one of the first places a viewer looks at, and at the same time the place where the basic part is usually coarsest.
The F-16 was supplied from the start with two different engines: the F100 series from Pratt and Whitney and the F110 series from General Electric. The choice of engine differs between individual production blocks and above all can be told from the outside — the two families have a differently shaped and differently long exhaust nozzle and a different number and shape of outer petals. This set represents the nozzle of the F100 engine. So before you buy, check which machine and which production block you are building; a swapped nozzle is immediately visible on a finished model.
Separate the parts carefully from the carrier structure with a sharp cutter or a saw and level the cut with a fine file — the thin petals are fragile. Use cyanoacrylate glue for gluing; ordinary cement for plastic will not join these parts. First spray a primer, then work with metallic shades and bring out the heat staining toward the outlet, where the metal tends to be the most burnt. A thin dark wash will pull out the division of the petals; a dry brush in turn brings out the edges.
An accessory set. The kit, paints and glue are not part of the package.
