About product

Aires 1:32 F-16C Fighting Falcon - wheel bays

A resin detail set from the Czech manufacturer Aires in 1:32 scale. It is not an aircraft kit but a replacement inside for the wheel bays, glued in place of the simplified plastic parts. The castings carry a dense structure of piping, wiring, ribs and rivets, as the real machine has and as injection-molded plastic cannot manage.

The real subject

The General Dynamics (later Lockheed Martin) F-16 Fighting Falcon is a single-engine multirole fighter and one of the most widespread combat aircraft in the world. The F-16C version is the single-seat combat variant. Open wheel bays are among the places a viewer of the model looks into immediately.

Building tips

Wash the resin parts free of the mold release agent, cut off the casting blocks and clean them up with respiratory protection. The set often calls for thinning the walls of the fuselage so that the bay fits; it is glued with cyanoacrylate. The detail comes out after a base coat, deep washes and drybrushing.

Who the set is for

  • Modelers of the F-16 in the large 1:32 scale
  • More experienced builders used to resin and to modifying a fuselage
  • Competition models and a display piece with open bays

It is a detail set, not an aircraft model. The model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
