This set is not a model of an aircraft but an extensive aftermarket upgrade for a plastic kit. It contains cast resin parts complemented by photo-etch and replaces several simplified assemblies from the box at once, typically the cockpit and the exhaust and engine area. The set is intended for the injection-molded model of the Vought F-8J Crusader in 1:32 scale (the kit from Trumpeter).
The F-8 Crusader was an American carrier fighter, famous for its variable-incidence wing and for its service in the Cold War and over Vietnam. The resin set refines the cockpit with its seat and instruments and the rear section with a more faithful exhaust and engine bay, which the plastic parts treat only in simplified form. The photo-etch adds fine details and the harness.
First separate the parts from the casting blocks with a fine saw or a cutter and wash off the mold release residue. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Given the extent of the set, count on careful alignment and reworking of the plastic parts of the kit; protect your airways when sanding resin. The details come out best after painting with an airbrush and picking them out with a wash.
This is an add-on set, not a standalone model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
