This is an accessory for a kit, not a model of an aircraft. The set contains pre-cut self-adhesive masks for a model of the Corsair in 1:32 scale, in the variant cut for the scheme designated A/C. An otherwise identical set for another scheme of the same type exists as well, so this designation is the only thing that tells them apart: before ordering, check which version you want to build.
The templates are cut to shape, so the hand cutting of strips from masking tape is no longer needed. The edges come out straight, without steps and without paint seeping under, which is clearly visible at a large scale.
The Vought F4U-1A Corsair was an American single-seat carrier-based fighter with the characteristic cranked wing in the shape of an inverted W and with a large Pratt and Whitney R-2800 radial engine. Against the earliest machines, the F4U-1A version received a raised cockpit with a better view forward, which made landing on a deck easier. The combination of the long nose, the cranked wing and the extensive glazing makes the Corsair a rewarding model but a demanding one to mask.
Wash the surface before masking in lukewarm water with detergent and let it dry out completely. Transfer the masks with tweezers and press them down with a toothpick, especially in the corners and on curved areas. With masks for markings, stick them onto a surface sealed with a thin layer of gloss varnish and spray the edge of the mask with the color of the base first: any seepage then does not show on the color of the design. Spray perpendicularly and in several light coats. Lift the mask off while the paint has only just set, with tweezers in a slanting pull. Count on a single use.
The set contains masking templates only. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
