Quickboost 1:32 F/A-18 A/B/C/D LEX fences are resin fences on the wing root extensions: a small accessory for a plastic Hornet kit.

Quickboost is a range of small resin accessories that deal with one particular detail and replace the kit part with it. This item brings the fences on the leading edge extensions, the so-called LEX fences, for the F/A-18 A, B, C and D versions in 1:32 scale. The casting is thinner and crisper than can be achieved in injection-molded plastic, and on a part this flat that shows at once. It is not a model of the aircraft but an accessory for a kit bought separately. The number of parts in the package is stated on the box.
The F/A-18 Hornet is a twin-engine carrier-borne multirole aircraft. The leading edge extensions create strong vortices at high angles of attack, which increase lift. On the first production machines it turned out that these vortices loaded the vertical tail surfaces, and so small vertical fences were added to the extensions to straighten the flow. They are clearly visible in photographs of Hornets in service and on the older versions they are one of the typical recognition features.
Wash the casting in lukewarm water with detergent. Cut the casting block off with a saw as close to the part as possible and sand the remainder wet: on thin flat parts a rough cut risks cracking them. Mark the place on the model in advance from the drawing in the kit and remove any plastic original. It is glued with cyanoacrylate; a drop applied with a toothpick is enough to set it. It is painted together with the surrounding airframe, so that the shade does not differ; the transition is then evened out with a light overspray.
The add-on set is supplied unpainted. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
