An AML accessory set for reworking a model of the Fieseler Fi 156 Storch liaison aircraft into the C-3 version in the night ground-attack form the Nachtschlacht designation refers to. It is meant to be used with a base Storch model in 1:32 scale, so it is not a complete kit of the aircraft.
The Storch became famous for its exceptionally short takeoff and landing - thanks to fixed slots along the entire leading edge and substantial flaps it could put down in a few dozen meters. The C-3 version was powered by an inverted air-cooled Argus engine. Besides liaison, observation and ambulance duties, these machines also appeared with the night ground-attack units, which disrupted the enemy's supplies and rest with small strikes under cover of darkness.
On the Storch the extensive cabin glazing deserves attention - finish the interior and everything that is to stay visible before you close it up. Attach the parts of the set to finished sub-assemblies so that you can reach them comfortably. Glue the wing struts on one at a time and keep checking the dihedral and the alignment of the two halves. Set the long main gear legs, which let the Storch put down on rough fields, according to the diagram, or the model will lose its typically tall stance. The camouflage of a night machine benefits from a darker underside and lightly applied highlighting of the upper surfaces, which breaks up a uniform silhouette.
