The lighter wing of the A-6 version

From the middle of 1943 these fighters were given a newly designed wing that was lighter while being stronger and could carry four MG 151/20 cannons. Firepower like that made the A-6 a dangerous opponent for the heavy bombers that had by then begun to cross the Reich by day. Many aircraft also carried WGr.21 rocket tubes under the wings, with which tight formations were broken up. They were flown by home defense units and by groups deployed on the Eastern Front.

What the sheet looks like

The sheet carries pre-printed areas for the front panel, the side walls and the seat with its harness. The elements lie at several heights one above the other, so the result does not look like flat wallpaper but like a broken-up surface with shadows. The qualifier in the name marks reworked artwork and adjusted dimensions compared with the maker's earlier release of the same subject.

Before you reach for the tweezers

The cutouts respect the parts from Hasegawa; the plastic model is sold separately. Work on a dry and degreased surface. Lay the individual pieces down with forethought and always press them from the center toward the edges, so that no air bubble stays under them.

Anyone who wants to go further can run a dark shade around the edge of the part once it is dry. The transition between the print and the plastic then disappears completely and the cockpit looks as if it were cast in one piece.

It was on this version that night variants with flame dampers on the exhausts first appeared in any numbers. The modeler therefore has a varied palette of camouflage schemes to choose from, from the gray-blue schemes of home defense to the dark finishes of night fighters.
