A thin print for the cramped cabin of the Focke-Wulf Fw 190 A-7 in 1:32 scale. The sheet holds areas for the front panel, both walls, the seat and the surroundings of the controls. Cut for Hasegawa plastic.
Responsibility details are not available.
The A-7 variant was built for only a few winter weeks at the turn of 1943 and 1944 and barely a few dozen examples came of it. The change was substantial all the same: in the cowling, MG 131 weapons of 13 mm caliber replaced the machine guns of rifle caliber, which forced conspicuous bulges above the breeches. The machines went to the units that attacked daylight formations of four-engine bombers, and their appearance foreshadowed the far more numerous later variant.
The space for the pilot is fairly tight on this fighter and a photo-etched panel would be hard to squeeze into it. A thin layered print takes up only a fraction of the room and still gives the gauges depth and gloss. The side walls, the front panel, the seat with its harness and the small things around the control column, which would be painted with a brush very badly, are all part of it.
The cutting reckons with the plastic components from Hasegawa and the kit is sold separately. Do not lay the pieces on a surface freshly sprayed with varnish that has not yet dried right through, otherwise the binder under the print will lift and the edges will curl.
Once they are stuck on, leave the whole thing alone for a few hours and only then go on with the assembly. Patience decides more here than skill.
The bulged covers above the breeches of the weapons are the most conspicuous recognition mark of this variant from the outside. Inside, the change of armament shows mainly in the differently placed charging controls, which the sheet likewise captures. Collectors have therefore taken to this transitional version.
