1:32 Montex masking set for the Gladiator Mk.I holds, according to the name, glazing masks for the outside and the inside and marking masks for two machines in Greek and Spanish colors. It is an accessory for a model, not a kit.

This set of self-adhesive Montex masks in 1:32 scale is intended for a model of the Gloster Gladiator fighter biplane in the Mk.I version. According to the name it covers canopy glazing masks for the outside and the inside and marking masks for two machines — one Greek and one Spanish. It is not a model and not decals; the masks serve to spray the canopy frames and the national insignia in paint. The particular numbers and sizes of the masks are in the instructions enclosed with the set.
The Gladiator was the last British-built fighter biplane to reach front-line service. It was powered by a Bristol Mercury radial engine, had an enclosed cockpit with a sliding canopy, and its armament consisted of four machine guns. The Mk.I version was the first production form. The type was exported to a number of countries and by 1940 belonged rather to a passing generation, yet it still saw combat. It is precisely the export machines that are interesting to modelers for their color: non-British markings differ markedly from the standard British roundels.
In the large 1:32 scale a decal is at a disadvantage — a large area of carrier film gives itself away under a matte finish and, besides, it lies badly over the ribbed fabric covering of a biplane. A mask gets round that problem: the paint goes straight onto the surface and follows every irregularity, so the insignia looks as though it really was sprayed on. The disadvantage is the need for accurate placement and a clean spray job.
The surface has to be fully cured, or the mask will tear the paint away as it is lifted. Lift the masks off with tweezers or a point, lay them on and press the edge down carefully — that is where sharpness is decided. Spray square on, thinly and preferably in several passes; a heavy coat runs underneath. Lay multi-color insignia on in order from light to dark and let each layer set. With the inside glazing masks, remember that they go on before the canopy is fitted to the fuselage. After lifting them, check the edges and level any lip with fine abrasive paper.
This is not a kit. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
