Reskit 1:32 Grumman F-14A/F-14B Tomcat wheels set is a resin wheel set that replaces the wheels from a plastic kit with a sharper, more accurate casting.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is not a model of the aircraft but an accessory wheel set for 1:32 scale. The resin castings replace the plastic wheels from the kit and bring a cleaner tread pattern and clearer detail on the hubs and brakes. Wheels are among the parts a viewer notices first on a large model, because they are at eye level and cannot be hidden. The set is intended for the F-14A and F-14B versions; for the later F-14D the manufacturer offers a separate version.
The Grumman F-14 Tomcat was a two-seat carrier-based fighter with a variable-geometry wing, brought into service in the 1970s. The F-14A version used the original engines, while the F-14B received more powerful ones and with them better takeoff and climb characteristics. The landing gear of a carrier aircraft has to take deck landings at a high rate of descent as well as arrestment by a wire, so it is exceptionally sturdy, and the dimensions and construction of the wheels match that.
Wash the castings in warm water with detergent, cut the casting blocks off with a saw and level the contact face on abrasive paper laid on a board, so that the wheel stands straight. Apply a primer to the resin. The easiest way to paint the rims is to spray the whole wheel in the rim color first, then mask it with a circular mask and overspray the tire. For the tire choose a dark gray shade rather than pure black, which looks flat on a model. A light dusting on the contact face makes a good finish.
This is an accessory set. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
