The real subject

The Hawker Hurricane is a British single-seat fighter of the Second World War. It came about at a time when the move from biplanes to modern monoplanes was still under way, and it carries the marks of that period: a frame of steel tubes and a rear fuselage covered with fabric. It was precisely that structure that made it a machine which took a hit and could be repaired quickly even under field conditions.

What the set solves

The national insignia and the stripes on the vertical tail are among the things that catch the eye most on a model. A sprayed roundel has no edge of carrier film, its edges do not shine and it takes any soiling of the surface, because it is part of the layer of paint rather than an extra layer. The set covers both the early and the later form of the markings, so you choose according to the machine you are building.

How to work with the masks

The masks are stuck onto a finished and degreased surface before spraying, never onto finished paint. Press the edges carefully with a blunt tool so that the paint does not run under them. Apply the paint in thin coats and from the edge of the mask inward, or you will push the paint under the edge yourself. Circular insignia are sprayed in layers, one color after another, with unmasking between the steps; the order and the position of the individual pieces are given by the instructions for the set. Remove a mask as soon as the paint has set, not after it has fully cured, when the layer beneath it peels away with it.
