A decal sheet from the Hungarian maker SBS Model with the markings of Hispano HA-1112 M1L Buchón machines in the service of the Spanish Air Force. The decals in 1:32 scale are the ideal complement to a conversion of a Bf 109 into the Spanish machine - they follow on neatly from the conversion set in the same range from the maker.
The HA-1112 M1L came about in Spain through the postwar development of the licensed Bf 109 airframe, into which the designers of Hispano Aviación fitted a Rolls-Royce Merlin engine. The machines with their characteristic bearded nose served with the Spanish Air Force until the 1960s, among other places in colonial conflicts in North Africa, and a number of them survived thanks to a career as film stand-ins for the Bf 109. Spanish national insignia and unit markings give this derivative of the Bf 109 airframe an entirely different face.
In a large scale a flawless gloss surface is the key - every unevenness will show through the decal. Seat the large national insignia with plenty of water and press the air out from the center, and move the small unit markings with a brush. Once dry, overcoat and weather sparingly; the postwar machines were well maintained.
