A set of self-adhesive masks for the Hawker Hurricane Mk.IIC in the large 1:32 scale. It masks the framing of the canopy from the outside and the inside and adds two sets of national insignia and supplementary decals.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Hawker Hurricane Mk.IIC carried four 20 mm Hispano cannon in the wing and from 1941 became the typical machine of night harassment sorties over occupied France, of the defense of Malta and of the fighting over Burma. A fuselage of welded tubes with a fabric covering gave the machine a different silhouette from its all-metal rivals, and the cockpit is just as distinctive: the sliding canopy has pronounced lengthwise and transverse frames, the windscreen a flat armored transparency, and the glazing continues behind the pilot's head into the fuselage decking.
Outlining framing like that with a brush means an hour of work and the result is usually shaky anyway. Cut film lies exactly in the edge of the part, allows the base and the top shade to be sprayed in one go, and once it is lifted the glass is left free of fingerprints. The inner part of the masks is applied before the cockpit is glued up, so the frame looks perfect even when seen from inside the cockpit.
A national insignia sprayed through the masks lies directly in the paint, has no glossy carrier film and does not lift on rivets or on the fabric covering of the tail surfaces. In a large scale that is a difference visible at first glance. Apply the film to a degreased and completely dry surface and pull it off at an angle, not straight upwards.
