This resin accessory from the Quickboost brand brings precisely cast barrels for the wing cannons of a model of the Japanese Mitsubishi J2M3 Raiden interceptor in 1:32 scale. It is not a kit but a replacement part that replaces the thicker and less well shaped plastic barrels from the box with more slender and faithful castings.
The J2M3 was the main production version of the Raiden interceptor (Allied code Jack), built by the Imperial Japanese Navy Air Service as a fast-climbing bomber destroyer with heavy wing armament of 20 mm cannons. The barrels protruding from the wing leading edges are a conspicuous detail on a model; fine castings with faithful proportions look better than the thicker plastic parts from the box.
First wash the resin parts in lukewarm water with a drop of dish soap to deal with mold release residue. Separate the thin barrels carefully from the casting block with a sharp knife or a saw and clean them up with respiratory protection. Bond them with super glue (cyanoacrylate) and handle them with tweezers. The muzzles can be lightly drilled out for effect; dark metallic shades will bring out the material.
The accessory is supplied as a resin replacement part, unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
