A set for rendering the pilot restraint in the cockpits of Japanese aircraft, in the rendition designated type 4, for models in 1:32 scale.
The Japanese belts are divided into numbered renditions, because no single solution existed for the whole war period. The differences lie in the arrangement of the branches and in the fittings. For a modeler that means choosing according to the machine, not according to which number is to hand; and for a builder of several Japanese types it means that the individual sets make sense as a collection.
A restraint in a cockpit in service never looks new. The strap fades in the sun, it frays at the bends and at the buckle it darkens from grease and from hands. In a large scale that difference is told immediately and it is the easiest way to get life into a cockpit without further accessories.
The order is simple: the finished interior, then the belts, then the weathering. Shape the strap so that the loose end lies across the pan or falls out of the shell. Then add dark flowing shade at the fittings and lift the edges with a dry brush. Finally dull the sheen, because a strap on a real machine never shone the same as a metal buckle.
