This is not an aircraft model but a metal detail accessory for kits of Japanese aircraft in 1:32 scale. The set holds four turned barrels of the 20 mm Type 99 aircraft cannon in the Mark 2 configuration with a lengthened barrel. Turned metal has a faithful muzzle and thin walls that injection-molded plastic cannot achieve.
The Type 99 was a Japanese 20 mm aircraft cannon of the Second World War, based on the Oerlikon design and deployed above all with the Imperial Japanese Navy Air Service. The Mark 2 version had a longer barrel and a higher muzzle velocity than the shorter Mark 1; a range of Japanese carrier fighters carried the cannon.
Cut off the plastic barrels in the wings and replace them with the metal parts, ideally into pre-drilled holes. Bond with super glue. Degrease the metal before painting and apply the paint thinly, so that the muzzle stays sharp. The muzzle can be gently redrilled with a micro drill bit for an even more faithful look.
The accessory requires a base kit; glue, paints and the model itself are not included in the package.
