An injection-molded plastic model of the long-range version of the German dive bomber Junkers Ju 87R Stuka in 1:32 scale from the Trumpeter brand. The model has a detailed airframe and wings, a well worked out engine and finely rendered cockpits; the box holds photo-etched parts and rubber tires. The R version differs from the basic B series in its equipment for long flights, above all the external auxiliary tanks.
The Ju 87 Stuka is one of the best known dive bombers of the Second World War. The R version (Reichweite, meaning range) was based on the airframe of the B version but was supplemented with an additional oil tank and fuel lines to the outer wing pylons, which made it possible to carry two 300-liter drop tanks under the wings. This considerably increased the range and the aircraft was particularly suited to attacks on shipping targets at sea. In other respects the Stuka kept its fixed landing gear in spats and the sirens on the landing gear legs.
Glue the plastic parts with liquid modeling cement for plastic and the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate glue. Do not forget the external auxiliary tanks, which set this version apart. Finish and paint the engine and both cockpits before closing the fuselage; mask the glazing. Apply the camouflage with an airbrush in thin coats over a primer and add weathering.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
