An add-on set of photo-etched parts for a model of the Italian Macchi C.205 Veltro fighter in the large 1:32 scale. These are photo-etched metal accessories, that is parts etched from thin sheet.
The Veltro, which in Italian means greyhound, was among the best Italian fighters of the Second World War. It came about by reworking the earlier Folgore type and differed from its predecessor chiefly in a more powerful engine and heavier armament. A model of this machine tends to be a welcome change in a collection among the more usual fighter types.
In a large scale a model is looked at from close up and the eye notices every thick edge. Injection-molded plastic has a minimum thickness and a maker cannot get below it, which is why grilles end up blind and fine sheet metal elements look like relief. A metal part, by contrast, is genuinely thin, holds a crisp edge and lets light through.
Cut the parts from the fret with a sharp blade on a hard surface and sand the remains of the tab. Make the bends over a metal edge or in a bender, because freehand will produce a curve instead of an edge. Before painting, wash the metal, degrease it and apply a primer, or the paint will rub off while the model is handled. They are glued with cyanoacrylate applied on the tip of a pin, and on larger areas a two-part adhesive suits, as it gives time to position them.
The package contains photo-etched parts. The kit, paints and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
