A kit of the Soviet La-5 fighter of the Second World War in 1:72 scale. It is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
Responsibility details are not available.
The La-5 is a Soviet single-seat fighter of the Second World War. It came about by rebuilding the older LaGG-3, which lacked performance: a massive air-cooled radial engine replaced the liquid-cooled one, and at a stroke an average machine became a fighter that kept pace with its opponents. The structure remained largely wooden, which suited Soviet production of the time, because it did not load the scarce metalworking capacity. The armament consisted of a pair of 20 mm cannons mounted above the engine.
The plastic parts of the La-5 model in 1:72 scale. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted, and the enclosed instructions give the order of the build.
Dry-fit the parts before gluing; on models of this scale the result is decided mainly by mating the fuselage halves and seating the wing. Lay the glue on thinly and sand the seam down once dry, so that the join between the parts does not show through. Fit out and paint the cockpit before you close the fuselage up. Mask the glazing before spraying and lift the mask off shortly after the paint has dried. Bring out the front of the radial engine with a dark wash, because the cylinders are visible through the opening in the cowling and a flat black area gives the model away.
The kit is for modelers who collect Soviet fighters of the Second World War in 1:72 scale, and for anyone who wants a smaller model without a long build. Paints, glue and thinner are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
