Reskit 1:32 Mark 82 Thermally Protected is a set of four resin aerial bombs with a thermally protective layer on the casing, intended for the pylons of models in 1:32 scale.

Four bombs as an accessory for a model, not a kit in its own right. What is interesting here is above all the surface finish. A thermally protected bomb has an ablative layer on the casing, which has a noticeably coarser, grainy texture, and that is exactly what you will not get out of a smooth plastic part from the box even with the best of painting. The casting carries it directly in the surface, so once the paint has been sprayed on the casing looks different from an ordinary bomb beside it.
The Mark 82 is an American low-drag aerial bomb from the Mk 80 series in the weight class of around 500 pounds. Thermal protection of the casing was introduced for the sake of safety in cramped spaces, mainly on the decks of ships, where fire is a hazard. The layer slows the heating of the filling and pushes the risk of a spontaneous reaction further off. In photographs, thermally protected bombs are told apart by a more matte and coarser surface than bombs without the treatment.
Wash the parts in lukewarm water with detergent because of remains of the release agent. Cut the casting blocks off with a fine-toothed saw and level the area wet, with protection for your airways. While sanding, take care not to wipe the texture of the casing away, otherwise you will lose exactly what you are buying the set for. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue, and it is good to reinforce the joint with the pylon with a wire pin. Start painting with a primer. Paint settles differently on a textured surface than on smooth plastic, so spray in thinner layers, so that the texture is not flooded.
Reskit makes the variants of the Mark 82 bomb with retarder units as separate sets, and there are several similar sets. The exact designation tells them apart, so go by that and by the scale.
The set is an accessory for a model, not a kit in its own right. It is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
