1:32 Martin-Baker Mk.10 Seat belts brings the harness for the Mk.10 ejection seat in the large 1:32 scale for builders of European jet aircraft.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set completes the cockpit of a model under construction with the safety harness of the Martin-Baker Mk.10 seat in the large 1:32 scale. It is aimed at builders of combat and training jets, where under a slid-back canopy the seat is the most striking element of the whole cockpit.
In the 1970s the Mk.10 brought the ability to escape safely even at zero speed and zero altitude, that is, straight from an aircraft standing on the ramp. A rocket booster made that possible by carrying the seat high enough for the parachute to fill. It worked in the Panavia Tornado, in the BAe Hawk trainer, in the Italian AMX and in the MB-339. Besides the shoulder and lap straps, the equipment also includes leg restraint lines that tightened during ejection and prevented injury to the lower limbs on the instrument panel.
On most kits the seat is set into the cockpit tub before the fuselage is closed, so try it dry in the space first and only then fit the harness onto it: afterwards you will have trouble reaching it. The straps look plausible when they are not symmetrical: one end thrown over the edge of the pan, the other hanging down toward the floor. It pays to work with fine-jawed tweezers and to have a wooden stick at hand for refining the shape before the belts settle for good.
