Messerschmitt Bf 108 Taifun wheels 1:32 is a set of replacement resin wheels from Eduard. It is not a kit or photo-etch — they are cast replacement parts that are swapped for the plastic wheels of a model.

The set replaces wheels molded in plastic with resin castings. The reason is simple: a mold for a casting can manage finer and deeper detail than an injection mold. On the finished part the tread pattern is therefore more readable, the transition between the tire and the rim is sharper and the hub detail is cleaner. The wheels are moreover usually cast in one piece, so the seam from gluing two halves together is no longer there — the seam that on plastic wheels has to be laboriously sanded away, along with the risk of wiping off the relief of the tire in the process. The manufacturer is the Czech firm Eduard.
The Messerschmitt Bf 108 Taifun was an all-metal four-seat touring and liaison low-wing monoplane of the 1930s. In design it foreshadowed the later Bf 109 fighter — the same school of a cantilever wing with automatic leading-edge slats and retractable landing gear. The wheels on this category of aircraft are fairly small, and all the more can softness, or conversely sharpness, of detail be seen on them.
First wash the castings in lukewarm soapy water, so that the remains of the mold release agent come off the surface — without that the paint holds poorly. Cut the casting blocks off with a fine saw or a cutting disc, and never snap them. Sand wet and with respiratory protection, as resin dust should not be breathed in. It is glued exclusively with super glue; cement for plastic does not work on resin. Before painting it pays to spray the surface with primer. It is a good idea to shade the tire — a purely black tire looks unnatural on a model, and a dark gray tone with a light dusty hint at the contact patch is better.
It is an accessory for a model, not a kit in its own right. The base model, paints and glue are not included in the package.
