A detail accessory from the SPACE range in the large 1:32 scale by the Czech manufacturer Eduard. It is not a kit but a combination of color 3D decals and steel photo-etch that lifts the cockpit of the Messerschmitt Bf 109E-4 fighter. The set contains 3D decals of the main and the side instrument panels and photo-etched steel seat belts, all finished in color and ready to apply.
The SPACE range combines a three-dimensional 3D decal with pre-printed colors and lettering; the element is lifted off the backing paper with tweezers, not floated off in a dish. In the large 1:32 scale, where the cockpit is clearly visible, a realistic instrument panel with legible gauges and fully rendered side walls stand out without laborious hand painting. The photo-etched steel seat belts hold the shape of their folds and give the cockpit the last degree of fidelity. The result is a cockpit that stands up to close inspection.
Degrease the surfaces under the decals and varnish them smooth. With a 3D decal, moisten only the backing paper (a damp sponge with a drop of detergent), lift the element off with tweezers and fix it with PVA white glue; Eduard does not recommend cyanoacrylate glue on the 3D elements. Do not use a decal softener or a fixer, because Eduard forbids them: their chemicals attack the printed resin and destroy the element. Cut the photo-etched belts off the fret, shape them and glue them with a small drop of cyanoacrylate glue. Once dry, unify the surface with a matte varnish, and work with tweezers and a sharp knife.
