The real subject

The Messerschmitt Me 262 is a German jet fighter from the end of the Second World War and the first machine of its kind to reach series service. In 1:32 scale its cockpit is large enough to look comfortably into: under the pushed-back canopy you can see the seat, the instrument panel and the side walls, and that is exactly where the difference shows between a model built straight from the kit and a model taken all the way.

What the set contains

Cockpit parts intended to replace the equipment from the kit, in the A-1a and A-2a versions; the set is offered under the designation Nightfighter. The list of parts is not stated here. The parts are not polystyrene and are bonded with super glue.

Building and painting tips

• Cut the excess material away with a sharp blade a short distance from the part and sand the rest smooth.
• Wash and degrease the parts before painting, otherwise the paint will not hold on the smooth surface.
• Dry-fit the set in the fuselage halves before you start sanding the mating surfaces of the kit.
• Finish and paint the cockpit before you close the fuselage, because after that work inside it is impossible.
• Bring the details out with a wash into the recesses and run a dry brush carefully over the edges.
• Leave the canopy pushed back, otherwise nothing of the work you have done will be visible.
