A sizable plastic kit of the Soviet MiG-23MLD Flogger-K fighter aircraft in the large 1:32 scale from Trumpeter. The injection-molded model offers a high parts count (over 700), clear parts for the cockpit glazing, a finely rendered cockpit and landing gear bays, metal main landing gear struts, rubber tires and photo-etched parts including the seat belts. The key feature is the movable variable-geometry wing, which can be built at various sweep angles.
The MiG-23 Flogger is a single-engine supersonic fighter from the Mikoyan-Gurevich design bureau whose prototype first flew in 1967. Its characteristic feature is the manually set variable-geometry wing, which combines a short take-off and good maneuverability with the wings spread out with high speed when they are swept back. The MLD version was the last major improved fighter modification of the family, with better aerodynamics and avionics. The machine served with the Soviet Air Force and with a number of friendly countries.
Finish and paint the cockpit interior and the landing gear bays before closing the fuselage - in this scale they are clearly visible. Glue the plastic with liquid modeling cement and sand the seams down. It pays to use masks on the glazing. A primer, airbrush spraying and breaking up the large surfaces with shades and washes are recommended. It is advisable to glue and mask the movable wing and the external stores only at the end.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
