A set of self-adhesive masks for the cockpit glazing of a model of the two-seat F-100F Super Sabre version in 1:32 scale. According to the name it deals with the outer as well as the inner side of the canopy. Masks for the national insignia are not part of this variant; it is a canopy-only set. It is neither a model nor a part of one but an accessory for painting a kit, from the maker Montex.

The real subject

The North American F-100 Super Sabre was an American supersonic fighter of the 1950s with a swept wing and a jet engine with an afterburner. The two-seat F-100F version had a lengthened fuselage and a tandem cockpit under a long canopy. That is more demanding for a modeler than a single-seat cockpit, because it has more frames and long continuous edges on which every overrun of paint shows at once.

Usage tips

Degrease the glazing and let it dry thoroughly. Lift the mask out of the sheet with a sharp point, seat it dry and only then press the edges down with a soft tool. On long frames start at one end and do not stretch the mask while applying it, otherwise the edge shifts and stops fitting. Go over the edges with a thin coat of clear or of the base color, which seals any gap. Spray in several thin coats and take the masks off while the paint is not yet fully cured. Apply and spray the inner masks before you glue the canopy onto the fuselage; once assembled you can no longer reach them.
