The set holds parts in etched metal sheet intended for working up a model of the North American P-51D-15 Mustang fighter in 1:32 scale. The manufacturer is Eduard, a Czech producer of photo-etched accessories. The name of the set does not specify which part of the model it is aimed at — on some of this manufacturer's code series a bare name with no subtitle is the usual convention. Judge the extent of the set before you buy, therefore, from the illustration of the fret on the box. What is certain is that it is not a kit but an accessory to a model that you obtain separately.
The P-51D is the most widespread version of the Mustang: a teardrop canopy with a view in every direction, a cut-down rear fuselage decking and a supercharged V12 engine, which gave the machine its performance even at high altitude. The D-15 designation refers to one of the production blocks of this version. In the large 1:32 scale the model is big enough for coarsely suggested sheet metal elements in injection-molded plastic to be easily recognized — etched metal will replace them at a realistic thickness.
Cut the parts off with a sharp scalpel on a hard surface, not with cutters. Make the folds on a bender or between two razor blades, so that the edge is crisp. Glue with cyanoacrylate glue applied with a pin — a drop straight from the tube onto the part will flood the detail around it. Degrease the metal before painting and seal it with a primer, as otherwise the paint will not hold. If the set is aimed at the cockpit, finish it before the fuselage is closed.
The set is an accessory to a kit, not a model in its own right. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise. Before you buy, check the match with the model you are building.
