A photo-etched set of metal parts for detailing a model of the Curtiss P-40B in 1:32 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The P-40B is an early production form of the American Curtiss P-40 fighter. The machine was built in large numbers and served with a range of operators, so it is among the classic subjects. In 1:32 scale a model is large enough for fine details to show well, and simplified plastic parts therefore draw attention on it more than they would in smaller scales.
This is a photo-etched set of metal parts. Photo-etched parts are made from thin sheet, so they have a thickness close to the real subject and they replace places where a plastic part is inevitably thicker than it should be on the original. The extent of the set and the kit it is built for are given in the instructions enclosed with it; check that before buying.
Separate the parts from the fret with a sharp blade on a hard surface or with photo-etch shears, and never break them out; a bent part is hard to straighten. Make the bends along the scored lines, press them with a ruler and finish the bend while the part is still accessible. Cement for polystyrene does not work here; the joints are bonded with super glue applied in the smallest amount. Degrease the parts before painting and spray a primer, or the paint will not hold on the smooth surface and will rub off in handling.
For modelers who want to take a large model all the way in detail and do not mind working with small parts and tweezers. The model, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
