A set of decals from the Red Fox Studio brand for the cockpit interior of Hasegawa's P-47D Thunderbolt kit in 1:32 scale. It is not a kit and not a photo-etched set; it is an accessory with which pre-colored detail gets into the cockpit without the hand-painting of tiny elements. The exact extent of the package is stated on the box of the set: what the set deals with is the look of the interior, not the building of the airframe.
The P-47D was the most numerous version of the Thunderbolt, one of the largest and heaviest single-engine fighters of the Second World War. It was powered by a powerful radial engine with a turbocharger, whose bulky ducting ran through the fuselage, and that is where the characteristic massive silhouette of the aircraft comes from. Eight heavy machine guns in the wings and the ability to carry a considerable load made it a machine that escorted bombers and attacked ground targets equally well. It was built both in the form with a full fairing behind the cockpit and later with a teardrop canopy.
Prepare the base smooth and preferably glossy, otherwise silvering may appear under the decal. Work with plenty of water, move the decal with a soft brush and never pull it by the edge. On broken-up surfaces a decal softener applied sparingly helps. Finish the interior before you close the fuselage; the Thunderbolt does have a roomy cockpit, but once it is glued together you can only reach it with difficulty.
