PR.1G (or FR IX) and PR.IV Spitfire - Conversion Set contains resin parts for building the photo-reconnaissance versions of the Spitfire. Intended for the Revell kits.
Responsibility details are not available.
The package offers F8, F52 and F24 cameras, two of each, two control boxes and two selector boxes, a Vokes filter, two wing covers, a rear fuel tank, two different cockpit canopies, a photo-etched frame and a small decal sheet with camera labels. From one set it is therefore possible to build several different reconnaissance forms of the Supermarine Spitfire.
Unarmed reconnaissance Spitfires flew high and far and relied on speed alone. The PR.IV version carried fuel in the leading edges of the wings and reached deep over the continent, while the machines of the G series kept their armament for low flights over the coast. The later FR.IX with an obliquely mounted camera provided tactical reconnaissance over the battlefield. The photographs from these aircraft stood at the origin of most planned operations.
Do not glue the clear parts with cyanoacrylate glue, its fumes will fog the surface; reach for canopy glue or for a clear varnish. The lenses stand out when you go over them with a drop of glossy transparent compound after painting. Darken the inside of the bays before you close the fuselage up; later you will not get inside any more.
Neither decals with aircraft markings nor a plastic kit are in the package.
